A 98km sand dune between lagoon and sea
A UNESCO-listed sandbar splitting the Baltic from a lagoon, held together by forest planted to stop the dunes swallowing villages — which they had already done twice. Nida, near the Russian border, has the Parnidis dune and Thomas Mann's summer house.

Signature local dishes worth seeking out.
Ferry from Klaipėda, then bus or bike; cars are restricted and charged.
The dunes are shifting and mostly closed to walking — stay on the marked boardwalks.
Very safe.
